10 useful Telegram features for the student
Telegram is more than just a messenger. Convenient functionality, cross-platform and fast performance are just some of the advantages that make it convenient for personal and business communication. In addition to the obvious and familiar functionality, Telegram has many useful features that not everyone knows. So along with useful services like essay writing service, Telegram is also becoming an indispensable helper. We describe 10 such features in this article.
Block apps with password
For those who seriously care about the security of data in messenger (personal and business correspondence), the function of blocking the application with a password will be very useful. You can set a code for this, without entering this code you cannot use the messenger and view the history of chats.
This option is enabled in the settings: “Privacy” – “Password Code”.
After creating a password, you can set how long the app will automatically be blocked (for example, after one hour of inactivity). You can also manually lock the app by clicking the padlock above the chats list.
Messenger also allows you to set up additional protection – a cloud password, which must be entered every time you authorize a new device.
At the height of Clubhouse’s popularity, Telegram implemented the voice chat function and has continuously improved the option since then. Voice chat is available to admins of any group or channel.
Anyone can join a chat room as long as it’s active. Voice chats can also be scheduled for a specific time, in which case team members will be notified when the chat starts. There’s a common function for Clubhouse fans: listeners can raise their hands to join the discussion.
Additional options for voice chat in Telegram:
- you can save the recording as an audio file;
- there is a noise cancellation option, which allows to improve the sound quality of the conversation;
- recently there was an option to play the screen (more on this below).
Group video call
Video conferencing is another modern trend (unlike Clubhouse and voice chat, group calls are really in demand and useful). In June 2021, Telegram added the ability to turn voice chats into video conferences.
Currently, up to 30 participants (the first 30 people connected to the chat) can talk simultaneously in a video conference. Next, Telegram plans to increase the limit. This is a serious response to Zoom.
Another feature long awaited by Messenger users. During a voice chat, you can not only switch to video conferencing mode (by turning on the front or main camera of your smartphone), but you can also broadcast the screen to other chat participants.
When starting a screen demonstration via the desktop version of Telegram, you can choose to show the entire screen or just a specific window.
When launching demo screen in desktop applicationThe video will automatically be pinned.
Telegram’s demo feature will be useful for all digital professionals who communicate with clients via messenger. With a screen demo, for example, you can quickly show customers the results of promotional campaigns for the past week, show predictions for the next period, and discuss budget increases.
Record voice quickly and listen to private audio messages
These features will appeal to lovers of voice messages. Normally, to record an audio message, you need to press and hold the button with the microphone icon. With Telegram, it’s easier and faster. Just open any conversation and hold the phone close to your ear. You will hear a short beep, then you can start speaking. When you’re done, take the phone away from your ear and tap the arrow to send a voice message to your chat partner.
Another useful feature – is listening to “secret” voice messages. In standard mode, voice messages are played through the phone’s speakerphone (so others can hear them). To listen to messages without others noticing, open the chat room with the unheard message and put the phone to your ear. Playback will start automatically, using the same speaker you would use in a regular phone call.
In the Telegram desktop and mobile apps, you can log in to multiple accounts and quickly switch between them as needed. This is useful if you have two accounts, one for work and one for private.
Secret chat with anti-forward protection and screenshots
Secret chats allow you to make your correspondence as private as possible and increase the security of sensitive data. Secret chats can only be activated in Telegram’s mobile app. To do this, go to the desired contact’s profile and select the appropriate option:
Here are the key tips of secret conversation:
- you cannot forward messages from one secret chat to another;
- if the interlocutor takes a screenshot of the conversation, you will receive a notification about that conversation;
- you can send self-destructing messages (they are automatically deleted after a certain time);
- Messages sent in secret chats cannot be edited.
“Favorites” – store important information
The “Favorites” section is a convenient way to store useful information. Here you can collect messages from chats, channel publications, download files, notes etc. In short, Favorites is ideal for saving important information and keeping files always at your fingertips. .
If you use this section often, it’s helpful to pin it so that it always shows up at the top of the chats list.
By the way, if you need to quickly transfer a file from your smartphone to your computer, you can do this using “Favorites” in Telegram. Upload the file to your phone’s chat, then open Favorites in the desktop app and save the file to your computer.
Use hashtags to organize information
You can use hashtags to tag important messages in your correspondence or channels. For example, you regularly send reports in your business correspondence with clients. If you add the report hashtag to each report message, clicking the hashtag will show you all the highlighted messages and show you them.
You can also organize your content with hashtags in Favorites. This is especially useful there because over time chats get cluttered with all sorts of saved information and it can be difficult to quickly find the file or message you want.
Show your profile name in forwarded messages
By default, if your message is forwarded to another chat, the recipient will see your name and a link to your account. But if you don’t want that information available to other users, you can adjust it. In the “Privacy” – “Message Forwarding” settings, you can disable the display of your profile name and the link in forwarded messages. You can turn it off for all messages or enable it in individual cases (for example, if a message is forwarded by a user from your contacts or someone from a group of users). added exceptions).
